Project Description

CSPTCL is an Indian state utility in Chhattisgarh situated in centre-east part of India.

CSPTCL has been following the automation methodology of automatic data logging system (ADLS). In ADLS, the data from communicable protection relays and energy meters is read in the gateway(iGrid iGW). The data from the gateway is read in the local SCADA system at the substation.

The SCADA system is a stand-alone system with provision to view the protection status, alarms, events are collected from the IEC61850 relays. Modbus communication is used to communicate and collect the data from energy meters. The iGrid iGW gateway in the substation is collecting the relay and meter information. The gateway also synchronises the time from GPS (Global positioning system) system.

The local SCADA system (iGrid iControl) is installed in the substation computer.

The local SCADA shows online status of the substation by means of SLD screen shown in the iControl SCADA.

Key Features

  • The SCADA generates the Energy management reports (EMS) as per requirement of the customer.
  • The reports are flexible to be generated based on user parameters like between dates.
  • All the standard format reports like tripping reports, daily log sheet, energy loss report, min max report.
  • The meters are connected in daisy chain method for providing RS-485 network.
  • The Ethernet switches are IEC61850 complaint managed level 2 grade.
  • The SCADA is monitoring the breaker, isolator status through Bay control unit(BCU).
  • The substation auxiliary equipment status like battery charging, battery voltage is shown.
  • SCADA has also line colouring, the user can switch between Flow based and Energy based.
